Swain County Heritage Museum — housed in the historic 1908 courthouse, free/donation-based, tells the story of early mountain settlers.
Southwestern Community College Heritage Arts / Nantahala School for the Arts — housed at SCC's Swain Center, offering an Associate in Fine Arts degree and Heritage Arts Certificates in ceramics, printmaking, weaving, painting, and more. Home to the only Cherokee-language letterpress in the world. The on-site gallery hosts 10-12 exhibitions annually, and the program runs summer and holiday craft festivals of its own
Fly Fishing Museum of the Southern Appalachians — downtown, history of fly fishing and gear in the region.
Great Smoky Mountains Railroad — scenic excursion trains departing right from downtown.
Gallery Zella — housed in a historic downtown building, featuring internationally renowned artists alongside regional and local favorites.
Charles Heath Studios — a working studio and gallery showing mixed-media work.
Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC) — a 500-acre outdoor recreation campus at the intersection of the Appalachian Trail and the Nantahala River, founded in 1972 by three paddling friends who converted an old roadside motel. Named one of the "Best Outfitters on Earth" by National Geographic Adventure. Offers whitewater rafting, ziplining, mountain biking, riverside restaurants, shops, and lodging

Semi-Annual Arts & Crafts Drive-About — self-guided studio and gallery tour across Bryson City, Swain, and Graham counties, held twice yearly. Meet the artists and watch them work.
Smoky Mountain Farmers and Artisans Market — local makers and growers, including gourd artist Joan Glover and other regional craftspeople.
